Francis Levasseur

Born in Montmorency in the Paris region, he trained in wood sculpture at the age of 15 in his grandfather's workshop.

A sailor by passion, he is interested in the structure of boats, their construction and their restoration. The artist likes sheet metal, painted wood, pieces aged by time, tanned by the sea. He makes characters, strange birds, unusual objects out of his imagination.  ​

Levasseur has the feeling of bringing back to life pieces of shipwrecks washed up by the sea, and iron and old tools found in flea markets. His fantastic creatures express the humor and tenderness of their facetious creator.
